How do you
know if you are ready to make a change to senior community
living?
Maybe you have been thinking about making a move. A change
of pace, a reduction in responsibilities and help with the
endless chores is an attractive idea. It would be nice to
have less stress and more time to socialize and even treat
yourself to a little pampering. Yet despite the undeniable
appeal you keep saying, “I’m not ready yet.” “One more year
and then I’ll think about it….”
If you are feeling reluctant or overwhelmed about making
changes you should know that you are not alone. Most people
begin to think about the next step with just those same
thoughts. You would however be surprised at how many people
just like you, having made the move, say “I wish I had done
this sooner!”
So how do you know if you are ready?
Have you lost interest in:
• Cooking nutritious meals
• Shopping for fresh produce & groceries
• Participating in social activities
• Keeping up your appearance
Do you
struggle with:
• Cooking
• Buying groceries
• Housecleaning
• Laundry
• Mowing the lawns and gardening
• Shoveling the snow
• Home maintenance
Do you worry about:
• Driving your car safely during the day
• Driving at night
• Transportation if you are without your license
• Falling and having no one to help
• Remembering appointments and medication
If you answered yes to just a few of the questions above it
should prompt you to look into the possibilities of senior
community living.
We understand the reluctance and difficulty in making the
decision to move to a retirement community. In all
likelihood, you are imagining the process to be far more
difficult than it really is. At Concord we respect your
privacy and your need to maintain a sense of independence
and dignity while still accessing support when you need it,
thereby giving peace of mind to you and your loved ones.
Some of our residents are very active, independent and are
still driving. They enjoy having delicious meals prepared
for them and weekly housekeeping so they have more time to
do the things they enjoy. We also have residents who are at
an independent level but require more assistance with the
day to day items and would like more socialization. In other
words – they are just like you.
Ask yourself:
“Am I maintaining my independence and well being by staying
on my own?”
"Are my
family worrying about my health and safety and yet are
unable to spend more time with me?"
It could be time to consider how your safety and health
(physical and mental) could be maintained or improved by
retirement living with senior support options.
Everything we do makes life easier
for you!
